Built for forestry, utilities and municipal crews, the FS 491 C-EM pairs STIHL’s largest 2-MIX brush-cutter engine with a newly reinforced gearbox that improves sealing, bearing life and lubricant circulation while expanding the mowing circle to a class-leading 520 mm—clearing 20% more ground per sweep than the outgoing FS 460. The M-Tronic 3.0 electronic carburettor and ignition module automatically adjust fuel and timing for temperature, altitude and load, so operators get first-pull starts, rapid warm-up and constant 2.4 kW output without manual tuning. A four-point anti-vibration system keeps hand–arm exposure down to 3.2 / 2.8 m/s², while ErgoStart reduces starter-rope effort by two-thirds.
